"Peace is everywhere..."

The 861-m-high Kickelhahn hill with his 24-m-high observation tower on the top offers a fascinating view of the whole region and is a favourite destination for all admirers of Goethe. Here he wrote the well-known poem "Wanderer's Night Songs" on the wall inside the hut (see above).

Goethe's footpath

Along this footpath of more than 20 km many famous places are situated, where Goethe worked and which made Ilmenau known as that Thuringian Goethe town. Some of these places can easily be reached by car (inquiry at Ilmenau Tourist Information).
